WOMEN’S DIVISION OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Mission Statement: “To preserve and continue to improve the economic and social well-being of our community.”
WDCC is a civic organization designed to give back to the community, in a less fortunate way, keeping within the guidelines of the Monahans Chamber of Commerce.
The Women’s Division, known as WDCC, consists of several creative and enterprising women from Ward County.
This organization serves several purposes in the community.
The women attend most county and city functions as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and of Monahans.
They organize, decorate, and volunteer for several area events.
They offer scholarships to deserving local high school students.
The functions of this organization seem never ending!!
All women are welcome to join.
WDCC meets on a monthly basis.
GOODWILL: Designed to bring programs to the membership that will benefit those in need to the best of our ability. (Ward County Greater Works, Kidz Zone, Volunteer Fire Department, Military Personnel, Families in need and the Food 2 Kids program)
CHAMBER BANQUET: We help decorate for the Annual Monahans Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet and prepare the food.
MISS MONAHANS: We provide the Miss Monahans Contestants pedicures for them during the competition period and help decorate the pageant.
SCHOLARSHIPS: We do fundraiser to raise money and give at least 2 scholarships to graduating seniors each year.
FREEDOM FEST: WDCC hosts the kids games on July 4th in the Park for the days activities.
PIE AUCTION: We ask for Pecan, Apple and other non-refrigerated pies to be baked. They are judged and auctioned off before the activities of the Butterfield festivities begin. This raises about $15,000 to 25,000.00 that we use in the Goodwill Fund.
TOYS FOR TOTS: We donate at least $1000.00 to the Toys for Tots campaign. We also provide a dinner for the volunteer fire department for their efforts in this project.
TOUR OF HOMES: WDCC Members help host in the homes that are listed on the Chamber’s Tour of Homes Event.
NOMINATING: This committee solicits members interested in being officers for the upcoming year and submits them to the membership.
COAT DRIVE: WDCC Members help advertise & collect coats, work with schools to retrieve coats from the lost and found, work with Ward County Greater Works and A-1 Cleaners, and also set up a date for the coat drive and work the coat drive.
RAINBOW ROOM: WDCC Members are to help collect supplies, separate supplies and organize room as needed.
The WDCC meets the 1st Thursday of every month at the Chamber office and have meals for different Chamber member’s restaurants. They do not meet in June, July or August but do have events those months. Each member is responsible for paying for their own lunch.
The membership dues for a year are $25.00.
The membership is open to any woman that would like to be involved and serve the organization in the way that is outlined in the above guidelines.
The monthly meetings are designed to provide programs in which are informative for women’s issues.
WDCC is always looking for opportunities to serve the community and to bring good programs to the group and urge any of their members to present ideas and suggestions to the group by first presenting it to the President of WDCC and the Director of the Monahans Chamber of Commerce.
